The Nº 4 is a mechanically very simple boxlock ejector, it’s a durable, dependable, and easy to service gun.

This side by side has disk set firing pins, a double trigger and automatic safety.

Aesthetically the gun has some nice simple engraving, some colour hardened finish and grade 2 oil finished walnut stock.

The gun is 12 bore with 28 inch barrels and weighs just under 7lbs.

My particular No4 was an auction buy from holts auction house and is used mostly as a pigeon gun. It’s a quick to swing gun but handles the pigeon loads happily.

The AYA is really easy to clean after a session shooting due to its simple design.

The No4 takes 2 3/4″ cartridges and so far I have been using 30g 6 Eley Pigeon select and 29g 6 Lyalvale express pigeon power both in a fibre wad cartridge.

Both cartridges so far have performed very well through the gun, killing pigeons cleanly.
